You cannot work on the Canada visit visa, but you may enter and exit Canada as often as necessary during its six-month validity period.

What is Canada's Visitor Visa?

The Canada Visit Visa is a straightforward visa application allowing foreign nationals to enter Canada for up to six months. Single-entry visas and multiple-entry visas are the two types of visitor visas available in Canada. A single-entry visa allows its holder to enter the country only once during the duration of the visa. Multiple-entry visas allow their holders to enter and exit Canada as many times as they wish while the visa is valid. Foreign nationals are automatically considered for multiple entry visas; single-entry visas are awarded only in rare circumstances.

The following information is pertinent to this visa:

  • Typically, the visit visa is issued in 27 days after submission
  • It can only be used for leisure or tourism purposes
  • You cannot use this visa to work or to apply for work
  • You can take your dependents and children along

Acceptability Requirements

In order to receive a Canada Visitor Visa, you must meet the following requirements:

  • Certain applicants may be required to meet additional entrance criteria depending on their profile.
  • Applicants must show that they have sufficient funds to maintain themselves and their family during their stay.
  • Applicants must not be searching for work or planning to start working in Canada.
  • Applicants must have no criminal background and be willing to abide by all of the country’s laws.

If you’re travelling as a family, each family member, including children under the age of 18, must fill out a separate application. You may, however, submit all of the applications at once. Depending on their nation of citizenship, applicants for a Canada visa may be asked to include biometric information in their application.
